The Northern Industrial Tools 12 Volt Winch has a freespool clutch that is operated by a pull and turn knob on the side of the unit which disengages the gearbox to allow the wire rope to be pulled out without using electric power.

Yes, this Northern Industrial Tools utility winch is powered by the 12 Volt battery on your lawn tractor, you may need to modify a mounting plate to make it fit.

answer 3
The only power requirement is a 12V power supply. As long as your lawn tractor has a 12V battery, it would power the winch.

answer 2
In short, no, it's not practical. Technically it could be done, but in order to supply the enormous amount of current (and power) required when under load, the power supply would have to be large, heavy and expensive. So you're better off using a battery. Even though this is still large and heavy, it is relatively inexpensive.

If you absolutely had to do this, you might be able to power it with a battery charger. However, you'd need a very high current charger, and you wouldn't be able to pull much weight with it (check the datasheet for the exact numbers). If you need an AC winch, I'd say you're better off just getting an AC winch.

This utility winch comes with 6' cables and clamps to connect directly to a 12 volt battery. There is no provision to connect it to a 7 pole trailer plug.

answer 2
When heavily loaded, the current draw significantly exceeds what a trailer connector can handle. I would not depend on this alone. An additional battery close to the wench would be needed.

The winch comes with a remote, but it is not a 'wireless remote'. It has wires that attach to the winch and wires that attach to a power source (i.e. car battery).
