This stove can be vented straight out through the wall but it is highly recommended that at least 3 feet of vertical pipe be installed on the outside to create some natural draft.

Question

Can this stove chimney be horizontally vented ?

I would like to know if the stove exhaust can be horizontally vented and capped, I have a masonry brick 3 story house, and this would be the best way as vertically venting would require at least 40 feet of vertical chimney. Also can this stove be made to burn outside air,by adding an air intake from the stove to the outside?

Yes this can be vented horizontally. However, you will need to have a 6 foot lift somewhere along with a elbow. When the power would go out, the combustion fan will stop working. You may or may not have smoke come back in the house. That is why the lift is important. You can add a air intake to this stove.

Staff Answer
No, this Dansons reconditioned pellet stove requires electricity for multiple reasons to include the following...

1. The convection fan that blows at the fire to keep it lit requires electricity.

2. The auger requires electricity to spin and can not be manually fed.

3. The air intake fan requires electricity that blows the heat away from the stove.

4. Finally, the igniter requires electricity.

As long as the stove is on and there is fuel in the hopper it will continue to burn. This stove can be hooked up to a thermostat that will maintain the heat settings you set on the stove. The thermostat will not re-ignite the stove. If the stove needs to constantly be heating it needs to always have fuel.

This stove will reignite if you have it on a thermostat and it has enough fuel. Without the optional stat it will run on 4 settings low thru high, the lowest is sometimes too hot so the optional stat is a nice option. It has a 300 watt iginiter that takes about 3-5 mins to bring to flame.
