You can get 3-31/2 HRS out of it if you use the damper and block off 3 of the intake holes after the fire is going good.

Question

extra damper in chimney

I was wondering if I would need to install an extra damper in the chimney pipe (the metalbestas) above the stove to retain more of the heat and not allow a great portion of the heat to go out the chimney? The older stoves I have had in the past I had a manual damper.

You will not need to install an extra damper. All the air control will be done at the damper with the Whistler stove.

answer 2
a second damper can be installed about one foot above the orignal one. you will get more control and extend burn times.do not close this damper compleatly or you will build pressure in stove.also keep your chimeny clean !!!! slower burns mean more creosote

Question

why is run time so much shorter tha other heaters?

would an heat reclaimer make the run time longer? or controll of the damper make the run time longer ?

answer 1
Staff Answer
This stove has a small combustion chamber, that is why the run time is short, however it does burn hotter faster with the small chamber. A heat reclaimer will distribute the heat, not run longer. If you add a damper, it will no longer be EPA exempt.

answer 2
This stove does not have any intake regulation, and the damper will only close about 66% or 2/3 of the way, hence its 110,000 btu rating. No matter what you do the burn time is the burn time. This stove already comes with a built in fan and produces A LOT of heat, I cant see any reason to modify it.

This Whistler wood stove does not have a back air intake, the air intake is on the front of the stove and it draws the air from inside the room where your stove is located.
