This pump is an agricultural and industrial pump and is not recommended for use in an RV even though it would do what you wanted it to. This pump would make the water taste different. The pump that is recommended for this application is listed below. This pump would pump water from rain barrels to your garden however, the pump needs to be sheltered and protected and it is recommended to put it on a timer since it would eventually get damaged if you let it run dry.

It seems to me that this pump should work fine for a camper. When you turn on the faucet it will come on and when you turn off your faucet, the pump will stop running. I use mine on a rain barrel to water my garden. When I release the nozzle handle, the pump stops, when I pull the nozzle handle, it starts again. I don't know about damage from running dry--I water my garden by hand and monitor my water levels. Used in this way, the pump does a very good job. Hope this helps.
