This NorTrac 35 HP tractor would work sufficiently fro your application. Both the front end loader and 3 point hitch both have lift capacities over 1400 lbs so with the proper attachment it would easily handle 1000 lb. hay bales. This tractor would also handle the arena drag job as well. It is necessary to verify the horsepower required for the arena drag you'll be using matches or is less than 35 HP. While Northern Tool does not carry an arena drag, click the links below to view some bale spear options.

The tractor would do a great job of pulling the drag. Our round bales are 600 - 800 lbs and we can move them easily if on level ground. Anything heavier might require weight on the rear of the tractor.

The NorTrac 35XT would work well for skidding logs up to the rear lift capacity(1,655 lbs). We do weight the rear tires as well.

We used our new 35 hp in the wood lot all summer and were very pleased. We could skid large logs pulling them from the rear, or on the small or medium sized logs we could hook the chain to the bucket and lift the log to keep it clean while skidding it. Worked like a charm!

Question

How do I chose a model & what about service

I have a 10-acre horse farm. Rolling hills and 3 stable barn. Will mainly use the front loader to move hay/feed and repair pasture as well as run a bush hog. What is the best way to size my needs between 25-35 hp?

Also I am in central KY How do I get service if I'm not near a Northern Tool?

Both the 25 and 35 horsepower models have the ability to move feed and run a brush hog. The difference between the models is that the 35 horsepower model has the ability to lift 641 lbs. more (1655 lbs v.s. the 25 horsepower @ 1014lbs). The 35 horsepower unit also will lift the load 6" higher (8' 5" v.s. the 25 horsepower @ 7' 11"). The overall dimensions of these tractors are very close to one another with the 35 horsepower coming it at about an inch longer, an inch wider and about 10" taller. The 35 horsepower unit will also have the ability to run a larger brush cutter than the 25 horsepower model. These differences may or may not come into consideration for you when making your decision.
