This Inverter is designed to be powered by a 12 volt system. When the 12 V DC power supply voltage exceeds 15.5 ± 0.5 V, the inverter will automatically shut down. When the 12 V DC power supply voltage drops below 10.5 ± 0.3 V, the inverter automatically shut down.

Question

Battery Banks for inverter

I have a 3000 w inverter with 2 batteries hooked up behind each side of the inverter in parallel. One set of cables to each bank. Should the last 2 batteries in line also be hooked together to form a loop? I am charging off of a 45 watt solar panel, but I still am not able to run the refrigerator in the RV

It is likely that the starting amps of the refrigerator exceeds the capacity of the inverter. If so, hooking up more batteries will not help.

When attaching the 12 volt batteries to this NPower inverter they need to be in parallel, if the voltage from the battery drops below approximately 10.5 Volts the inverter will automatically shutdown.

It sounds to me that you may need more solar panels to charge the batteries at a faster rate, please see some of the solar panels we offer listed below...

Also, be sure to check the wattage requirements on the refrigerator and try running it by itself with no other appliances attached.

Can I use this to charge my electric vehicle on a regular basis?

Say someone lives in a condo complex and there is no outlets near their assigned parking space. Can one get this portable power unit and charge it up in the condo then bring it down to the garage to charge car. Will it work? On a regular basis?

This inverter doesn't store power. It converts 12 volt electricity(from a car battery, etc.) to 120 volt electricity. Click the links below to view jumpstarters/power packs that will jump start a vehicle battery.

This digital inverter can be mounted on its side. You must leave at least 2” (5cm) of clearance around the unit for airflow. Also, ensure that the ventilation openings are not obstructed.

This inverter produces 3000 watts for up to 5 minutes and 2500 watts continuously up to an hour. A 13,500 BTU air conditioner draws on average 1500 watts. To power loads over 1000 watts, 2 sets of inverter cables are required, view Northern's item #457103.

Can the 3000w unit handle the startup surge of a grinder type sump pump?

I intend to use only in case of power loss. Amperage is 8.7 on a 120 volt household out let.

This inverter is a modified sinewave type. This type of inverter will be sufficient for sump pumps and most motor powered equipment. A pure sinewave inverter is necessary for especially sensitive equipment; for example, computers, LCD and plasma tv's. Check with the manufacturer of your equipment/appliances if you're unsure of their compatibility with a modified sinewave inverter.
