This grill is recommended to be set in a concrete footing of 12" diameter and 36" depth, there is not a mount available to bolt this to a wood surface.

I would not recommend Heavy-Duty Park-Style Grill - Model# H-16 B6X2 for a wood deck but would install it in the back yard away from combustibles or flammables so you can enjoy great BBQ's.

no. It is adjustable up and down for cooking and it will stand up vertically for complete access to the charcoal but the grate does not come off.

Hickory, oak and mesquite are chosen most often as a practical standalone fuel source. The density or, "energy content" of these woods allows them to burn hot and slow. Each imparts a distinct flavor and aroma for a personal preference.
