There isn't a specified horsepower to tow the aerator. When the aerator is completely full of water it weighs 490 pounds. The owner would need to check the manual for their tractor to see it the towing capacity can tow that weight.

This aerator is designed to be attached to a standard mower hitch. It is not designed to be attached to a tractor 3 point hitch or a tractor PTO, which means it cannot be lifted when filled with water either.

You would need pull it out of the garage and fill it with water for added weight and then reverse the process when pulling it back into the garage. It is best to store it on a pallet if the plugs are left on.

I slowly rolled it (EMPTY no Water inside the drum) on the spikes to get it into the yard. It did not damage the concrete or the spikes

I live in Connecticut with some decent clay soil. I just used this unit and the clay soil seems to be getting lodged into the plugs and it's not ejecting the plugs. Basically, after a few rotations all the plugs get gummed up with cores. My soil is damp from a recent rain fall so it could be that too. Right now I'm a bit frustrated with the machine but I'm still experimenting with how much water to add into the drum. I'd love to hear any advice how to avoid this. Maybe I need to simply wait for a drier soil. Although it's not that damp. Seems like the machine should be tossing the plugs out.

Question

Will it attach to a regular hitch on a riding mower?

I notice in the photo that where you attach the aerator to a hitch on a mower is not up and down like most attachments. My question is will this attach to a plain riding mower hitch? I'm hoping the photo is not correct.

The Yard Tuff Drum Plug Aerator will attach to a standard mower hitch. The clevis on the aerator will be two horizontal plates, on top of one another with a hole in the middle. The picture makes it look opposite, but you can zoom in and confirm they are on top of each other, not side by side.
