I saw that same review, and was confused. I don't know why that reviewer felt he had to unplug the the solar-panel. Maybe there was something wrong with his unit. Mine works just fine, I never unplug it.

One thing I noticed, though: One night I ran the light until the battery was too low to keep it going, and the light just went OUT...but I forget to hit the button to turn it off. Next morning when the sun came up, the light did NOT come on...it automatically turned itself off.

I'm not certain I understand, so I'll restate your question, and answer that:
Question: If the internal battery that is charged by the solar panel is insufficient and the light goes out, is there a way to use ANOTHER battery as a backup, to continue to use the light?
Answer: No. At least, not as far as I know.

No mounting brackets, but it's easy to make some. I put my panel on a metal roof by sandwiching it between two 16" chunks of 2x4, driving roofing screws up from the inside into the 2x4's. It works fine, but in retrospect, it would have been easier to manufacture four corner braces out of galvenized sheet metal - that way I'd have been driving the screws down from the roof top, wouldn't have had to get my wife to perch up there holding the 2x4s while I was driving the screws up from underneath.

First unit we got only ran 30-40 minutes, then out. Northern sent us a replacement - run time on full battery, without a break, is over two hours. We tested it 15 min on, 15 min off, 15 min on, etc, and we got nearly 3 hours run time, and it seems to be improving.

Not a clue how many lumens or candlepower, but it's pretty bright. We use it on our deck, mounted over the propane cookers, and it lights up the kitchen and dining areas, about as bright as a Coleman gas lantern, and because it's 36 inches long, not as much shadow as with a lantern.

Yeah, it worked for us down to about 15 degrees, but it's my impression that the run time was reduced. That's as cold as it got. I don't know how much colder it could have gotten and still worked.

Question

What are the dimensions? & what about a bracket?

I need to know the length of the flourescent fixture, the length, width, and thickness of the solar panel, and the length of the wire connector...the specs said 8.5 inches, but that is hard to believe. Should be at least 8 feet.

Also, do you know where I can find a bracket for the solar panel, one that swivels so I can adjust it for max sunlight?

The light fixture is 36" x 10" x 14". The solar panel is 12"x6"x3/4". The length of the cord is 8.5 feet. For a panel of this size we do not have a swivel mounting system, in most situations the panel is able to obtain enough light to charge the unit when faced permanently in a southerly direction.
