The charger for this Drill Driver would recharge on 120 volt 60hz. It will not work with 50hz 120 or 240 volt.

18v will give you longer life. Not much more power.
12V is definitely capable of drilling and driving fasteners into 2x4s.

18 Volt with 1.3 AH Battery = 234 Watt
12 Volt and 2 AH = 240 Watt
-------------------------------------------
= 12 Volt/2AH more power.

It all depends what you use if for! The twelve volt is great for screws and small drill bits. The eighteen volt is much better for heavy or repetive drilling or larger screws. I use the twelve volt driver for all light work and switch to the eighteen volt driver for the heavy work. Note that the twelve volt driver is much lighter and therefore easier to hold in awkward positions.
