This Northern Industrial hoist will work work great for canoe storage but it is not tested for outdoor use.

I have used this for hanging kayaks and it works well. I hook it around straps wrapped around the bottom of the kayaks in the front and back. I would not use it outside as it is made out of sheet steel and will rust.

Yes, the included 49' lift rope provides plenty of excess length for ceilings up to 14-feet high.

No, we do not offer a replacement rope. The rope is 5/16" in diameter and is nylon.

When using two of the Northern Industrial Storage Pulley Hoists, the most important thing to keep in mind is the weight distribution. If the item being lifted is more than 100lbs, always make sure weight is never all on one pulley, and that when lifted, they both go up at the same rate.
