The extension has a standard 1/4" hex connector. It will work, however you will need a 1/4" hex shank drill bit.

Question

does this work on any size bit?

it looks like the quick release on a 1/4" drive impact wrench which only holds impact ready bits. Would this hold a standard 1/8" wood bit? I guess I'm asking it if would hold a bit smaller than 1/4" in the back (the part that goes into the chuck)

The manufacturer does not recommend these be put together. They would not be stable enough.
