The rear crossbar does remove easily. The bed rail is 16", with 1' at each end.

For this truck rack you would have approximately (depending upon vehicle) 4 inches from the cab to the bottom of the rack. The overall height is 27 inches from the top of the bed rail to the underside cross rail.

This truck rack has a 12 foot overall length and is 27 inches from bed rails to top and
features 7 inch side rails, so overall height of 34 inches. This fits all full size trucks with a 8 ft (96 inch) bed.
