estimate to be about a foot ,without going out in the cold and measuring it ,,hole is for standard size pin used for this purpose on most all hitches, i did shorten my rack tounge about 6 inches and drilled a new hole to mount rack closer to the vehicle ,,but would not have been necessary, adapter was fine as it came .did nothing to it .

The hole is 5/8 inch. The overall length of the adapter is 7 inches.

One hole is 5/8" in diameter (located 2.5" from the end of the adapter that slides into the 2" receiver). The other hole is 1/2" in diameter (located 1.5" from the end of the adapter that accepts the 1" ball mount, bike rack, etc.).

The adapter is 7" long.

The distance from center to center of the two holes is approximately 3".
