At batteries fully charged how long will they run at full capacity

With the batteries fully charged and pulling the full 6000 watts the batteries would only last about 1 1/2 hours. You can add more batteries to have more power storage and more solar panels. You can also use a generator to help charge the batteries.

Can this system also be used as a power-source, or would it need to be retrofitted in order to supply utility power with a backup system built in.

This unit can be tied into the power line to automatically come on when power goes out. It can also be set up to use as a peak power source that you turn on and off when you want it. It can also be used as the only source of power. In order to do so would require a good way to keep the batteries charged. This can be done by solar, wind power or generator.
