Taking off the handle and changing the design of how the winch works can be dangerous and would void the warranty.

Does this winch have a handle release?

I am looking for a winch that I can crank up an object then when I release the brake to lower the object the handle does not spin.

Ultra-Tow Expert
The winch will hold 60 feet of 3/32" wire rope. To secure the cable you will thread the cable from the inside of the drum through one of the round holes until it extends 1 1/2" past the two square holes. You will clamp the cable to the outside of the drum with the cable keeper, item #21486, sold separately.
Be sure the carriage bolt heads are on the inside of the drum.
