Questions & Answers for NorthStar Tow-Behind Sprayer With Boom - 26 Gallon, 2.2 GPM, 12 Volt

Question

Where does one place the 12 volt battery for this tow behind sprayer.

Your picture shows no place to put the 12 volt battery - my riding mower does not have a place to put the battery? What good is a trailer/sprayer with no place for the power source?

I used the battery on my riding lawn mower. It one less battery to replace and charge back up. The battery on the rider will it charge up by the motor. If the wire for the battery connection do not reach. You can ask a sale person at your local Norther has an extension for it. Ride does not have a battery to start it. Check to see if they make a battery hold to mount on your rider or sprayer.

The pump piggybacks off the lawn tractor's battery. If you have a pull-start riding mower, then I see your point. But otherwise, there is plenty of wire between the sprayer pump and the switch to snake it up under your tractor and secure it with zip ties on its way to the tractor's battery. Mine came with a handy plug that I zip-tied to the towing hitch platform and is easy to hook up and unhook. Note that if you are trying to tow this sprayer with a toy like an 8 HP rider, you're asking too much. 26 gallons at 8.6 pounds per gallon is 223 pounds plus maybe 175 pounds of dude and you're lugging around nearly 400 pounds plus the sprayer's empty weight too. You will overheat that poor rider in a hurry if it's that small (not saying that it is; just saying if that's the case). I would not pull this with less than 16-18 HP. Hope this helped.

The spray wand can be obtained at any retail outlet that sells sprayers. You may have to get an adapter for attaching the wand to the supply hose as at times the original spray wand male end is not the same size as the replacement unit. Usually the nylon parts are located right next to the spray wand unit area.

answer 2
Follow the sealant manufacturers recommendation for applying to concrete. Most sealers are best applied with hand sprayers. If you have a large area you are trying to spray. I am sure this sprayer will do a fine job. Before filling the sprayer, I would be sure of what the cleanup procedure is and make sure that it doesn't require the use of solvents. You cannot run solvent through this sprayer. Most sealant sprayers are dedicated and not used for any other purpose. I would be careful.

answer 2
The pressure is not adjustable but you can "adjust" the flow by partially closing adjustable valves to each sprayer nozzle. I'm not sure if this would be bad for the pump or not.

Question

Boom Pressure Regulation

Hello,
How do you regulate the flow pressure to the boom spray? My unit runs at 45psi which is above any of the suggested pressure in the manual (ie 15, 25 & 35 psi) and I need to regulate the pressure so I can work out what speed to travel at for adequate coverage per acre.

Chris

This NorthStar tow behind sprayer does not have a pressure adjustment for broadcast spraying.

The application rate is determined through the calibration table found in the owners manual, the owners manual can be found on our website under "Content Links" for the sprayer.
