I have mine mounted permanently on my boat. it is 90% out of the weather and has held up great. try putting it under plexiglass or under an overhang, etc....

Yes, as long as the cigarette lighter remains live (active) when the engine
is off. Some vehicles shut off this connection once the keys are out of the
ignition. If this connection is not live, the best option is to connect the
panel straight to the battery.

The solar panel will keep the charge over the winter as long as it receives adequate daylight.

The NPower Solar Powersports Charger will only work with 12 volt batteries. We do not sell any 8 volt chargers at this time.

Disconnecting the charger when driving is advised for safety reasons as the panel is not secured for transportation on the dash and this could distract the driver. There is no electrical problems that would be caused by the charger not be disconnected.

Will this solar charger provide adequate, to even minimal power to charge the 2 tandem deep cell coach batteries in our Rv ?
Or is it just intended for a single 12v battery?

This charger provides 1.5 watts of power to a 12 volt system as long as it is in the sun. That is 0.125 amps. That will keep a fully charged battery maintained, but is not going to charge a low or dead battery.

The cutoff voltage would be 14.2 volts to keep from over charging the battery. To resume charging the voltage would be 13 volts.
