This dump trailer has metal supports on both front and rear gates. When the gates are in the down position, these supports make contact with the trailer frame. These supports are located on both the left and right sides of the gates' vertical tubing(with gates in upright position). The gates can be secured in the down position using pins through these supports. The trailer tongue does not support the front gate when it's down.

Question

On this trailer is it possible to raise the height of the sides using stakes and to tie a tarp overtop secured with bungee cords?

Some trailers have stake pockets. Does this one have stake pockets or is it possible to add stake pockets? Would you advise for or against doing this? The sides on this trailer are solid and should protect items inside from water and dirt, correct? If we wanted the further protection of a tarp could we adequately secure it with the side loops or would we need to add something to the trailer for solid tie downs? Thanks for your help.

On this trailer it is not possible to raise the sides using stakes because the trailer does not have any stake pockets. I would not advise trying to add your own stake pockets onto the trailer sides. The sides of this trailer are bolted together so they are fairly resistant to dirt and water especially if a tarp was secured over a trailer using the side loops.

This trailer comes in a flat box so assembly is fairly complex and comprehensive. The owners manual has color pictures and good instructions for assembly but lots to assemble including axles, wheels/tires, frame and trailer tongue, lights, wiring, side rails, etc. There is some weight involved in moving and handling the pieces for assembly as well. The instructions are quite good but if you have limited technical experience and limited strength, it could be a bit of a challenge.

Question

Are there tie-down connectors in the floor?

I would use this for hauling a small tractor. In the picture, I don't see any places in the floor where it could be tied down to the frame underneath. Are there any? If there aren't any, are the sidewalls solidly secured with pins or bolts so that the tractor could be strapped to the metal loops on the tops of the sides?

This trailer does not have a place in the floor for tie down straps. You could hook to the side rail at the upright frame at the corners and center. Be sure not to over tighten so the frame does not bend.
