As the tine diameter is 20" it will clog more quickly with the longer grass. Cloging just means the rake rolls over the grass. I have found 6-8" grass is the limit.

One house brick on each side is enough. Note. The unit has to be balanced (length of each chain), for it to work right.

The Yard Tuff Acreage Rake is designed for loose organic material ( grass clippings, leaves, twigs and sticks, etc.) Although some grooming of loose gravel may be achieved it is not its designed usage intent.

answer 2
Well I am assuming you mean the occasional gravel. Yes. Usually it passes through due to weight. If you mean pulling it down the road. It would not pull it far as the tine arms pivot and allow some to drag even when in raised position.

It should work fine. The tines are about 1.5" apart. Once they start building up then should rake it nicely.

The weight boxes are designed for a standard size cement blocks. They weigh approximately 30 lbs. It will hold two blocks. You will add about 60 lbs. to keep it from sliding sideways. You can adjust each side for height to prevent from sliding while in use.

answer 2
It will only handle a small cement block. Not large enough for much more than that. Use whatever you have. The whole unit is not heavy enough to do much else. If you get 50 lbs in it, that's half the weight of the rig. Without weight, the whole unit will just get pushed to the side by the grass or leaves you intend to rake.....

Question

How does it do raking a gravel road?

I have a long gravel road which gets littered with leaves and twigs. I'm expecting this may work more quickly than a backpack blower. Anyone with experience? Speculation doesn't count.

This acreage rake is made to do the exact job you describe however, speed testing as compared to a backpack leaf blower for same job has not been tested for or rated. Additionally, there are many different leaf blowers with differing CFM and MPH ratings.

I have the smaller of the two types and love it. It thatches great. Just need to make sure the wheeled arms are marked for thatching or raking. I did not do that until this week. Makes a difference when wanting to thatch and not rake. This works quite well for smaller yard jobs.
