I don't know what the decibels are but I do know you can stand right next to it while it's running & carry on a conversation with another person.

It isn't terribly loud, but you do know it is on... it is moving 9,000 CF of air, so it will make a little noise! But over all, it isn't bad, however that really is a subjective kind of thing, what is not that loud to me, but be horribly loud to you.

Can I mount the base to the ceiling?

I want to get this fan off the floor and am considering bolting the base to my ceiling and mounting the fan upside down. Will this cause any problems with fan motor, etc?

The Aloha Pedestal Fan can not be mounted to the ceiling. It would cause problems with the motor.
