Staff Answer
The Hilliard 14 tooth clutch will provide a higher torque but lower speed than the 17 tooth clutch.

Therefore the 17 tooth clutch will provide a higher speed but lower torque than a 14 tooth clutch.

answer 2
The difference depends on the ratio of the drive sprocket (14 or 17 tooth) and the driven sprocket (the sprocket on your drive shaft). The 17 tooth will give you higher speed, but you may lose some bottom end power. depending on your application, determine which better suits your needs.

answer 3
It depends on your sprocket size. For example 14 tooth driver and 28 tooth sprocket have the same ratio as 17 tooth driver and 34 tooth sprocket which is a 2to1 ratio. Your best bet is to search online for a sprocket ratio chart to determine your driver selection.

The 14 tooth gear would give you more power, the 17 tooth gear would give you a little more speed.

I would say that would depend on the clearances concerning your engine and what your are using it to drive. It can be mounted both ways. Either way, the clutch will have to be secured to the shaft either by a bolt and washer on the end of the crankshaft, or locking collars. It would be great if the clutch came with a locking set screw, but it does not.
