This generator will run your shop vac with power to spare as Power, Watts is equal to Volts x Amps which in your case is 960 Watts (120 Volts x 8 Amps). The generator is rated for 2000 Watts max output and 1900 watts steady state, however the rating on the front panel where the power output (plugs) is 120 Volts at 20 Amps for 2400 watts. So either way it can run your shop-vac at that draw all day long so buy it with confidence.
