Questions & Answers for Solar ePower Cube 1500 - 5-Panel, Model# 2546

Question

Please pardon my being a rookie, but this product states it is a 1500 watt. How, with 80 watts worth of panels is that?

How does this compare to the Sunforce 60 watt kit? Can more panels be fed to it in order to charge it quicker?

The 1500 watts this is rated is for size of the inverter. The inverter changes the power from 12 volt in the battery to 120 volt household electricity. While the 80 watts of panel will only charge the battery at an 80 watt clip, you can take up to 1500 watts from the batteries at any one time. More panels can be added to charge quicker. Compared to the Sunforce 60 watt kit, this will charge batteries faster, is more portable, and also includes the battery itself.

The charging using solar os 80 watts- charge time is 18 hrs- 18 * 80 = 1440 (ball park 1500 watts reserve in the battery) you can use the battery for 1 hour at 1500 watts before needing recharged or 2 hours at 750 watt, ect. output can be up to 1500 watt in short periods , or 80 watts continuous. My laptop uses 2 amps at 120 volts- 2x120 = 240 watts- it can run just over 6 hrs on a charge. More panels and batteries upgrades will increase this.

This product is virtually silent it is about as noisy as a small desktop fan. A quiet gas generator such as a Honda would give off the same amount of noise as a vacuum cleaner. The louder ones can equal the noise of a rotary mower.

How exactly does this work? Can I charge the solar panels and use AC charger at the same time to extend power twice as long?

This unit has a battery inside that can be recharged using the attached solar panels or by plugging into an AC source (standard household outlet). You can recharge the battery faster by using both at the same time, but you cannot put more power into the battery. You would have to add additional battery(s) to extend the power.

A wind turbine or additional panels can be attached to the Solar ePower Cube. Terminals on the front of the unit can be wired into a turbine or additional panels. Remember a charge controller is needed before connecting to the unit to prevent damage.
