I asked this same question before I purchased mine. The answer I recieved was yes, it can be left outside as it is weather resistant, but it can NOT be submerged as it is not waterproof. I've got mine mounted outside about 4 feet off the ground at a 15 degree angle toward the south so it gets better sun, but also it drains the water off. So far so good, no problems from rain, snow, ice, dew, etc.

The Wel-Bilt Solar Battery Trickle Charger will not overcharge your battery. Only when using larger panels(15 watts and up) would you need a separate charge controller to prevent overcharging.

answer 2
No, it is only a trickle charge (6 watt = about 0.5 amps) and can be left on continuously without overcharging the battery.

The Wel-Bilt Solar Battery Trickle Charger is not available with a car plug. Northern Tool does sell a 5 watt solar maintainer that will. See link below for more information.

answer 2
You may have to make your own adapter by taking a 12 volt cord that plugs into the lighter and splicing it to the wire from the panel.
As to whether it will charge through the lighter, that depends on your vehicle. If your lighter remains powered when the ignition is off, then yes it will work. If not, then no it will not work. In my experience for most GM and Ford vehicles the lighter remains powered with the ignition switch off, so it would work. Toyota vehicles do not power the lighter with the key off, so it would not work. I'm not sure about other makes, but you should test that for your specific vehicle.

The solar battery trickle charger does include a red and a black wire that will be hooked to your battery. The unit does include 12 feet of wire and battery clamps for this and the solar panel which is all that is needed to function.

answer 2
If you have no ground wire, I would advise attaching the ground clamp from the panel to any bare (unpainted) metal on the frame. Otherwise you will need to attach the panel's clamps directly to the battery posts.

The Wel-Bilt Solar Battery Trickle Charger can be hooked up in series, but produces very low wattage designed to simply maintaining a battery, therefore it would recharge a battery very slowly. If you need to run a pump 24/7, you most likely would need much, much more wattage. Based how the draw of the pump itself, and how many hours it will run vs. how many hours of sun you receive, the amount of panels needed would vary. Please call 1-800-221-0516 for more information.

answer 2
No, in my opinion you need to buy a panel with more output as this panel will not charge a discharged battery, only maintains a charged battery.

The Wel-Bilt Solar Battery Trickle Charger will work as both a maintainer and a charger. The 6 watt panel will slowly charge the battery as well as maintain a full battery without overcharging. This will not desulfate a battery.
