When the charger is plugged in a red light will come on indicating the power is on. When you put your batteries into the charger a green light will come on indicating it is charging. Charge time is from 3 hours to 5 hours depending on how run down the battery is. The charger will not shut off and will continue to charge as long as the battery is in the charger. If left too long it could damage your batteries.

The first initial charge for this cordless drill is 3 hrs, then after that first charge the time varies from 3-5 hours.
