This was my concern also, but I went ahead and purchased at my local store after trying it. I'm 6'5" 330lbs and I'm very pleased with the pneumatics and overall quality of this stool. Hope this has helped!

Shop stool seat is 14" in diameter, back rest is 11 7/8" W x 5 7/8" H x 1 1/8" thick
and the box is 25 1/2" L x 5 3/4" W x 18 1/2" H.
