The valve is open center. Northern does offer a closed center cartridge through their parts team.

This valve is a parallel valve and will allow you to hook it up to operate your boom and bucket simultaneously.

The float position on the valve allows the hydraulic cylinder to float and all ports are connected to the reservoir.
