If the maximum waist size is 46", can the belt be extended ... is the belt one of those plastic-clasp connectors or just webbing attached to either side of the leggings?

Husqvarna measures their chaps from the belt line to the bottom of the cuff. This is NOT the inseam measurement.

You do want them to cover your boot top but not drag on the ground when I buy the wast to ankle is the important number so I would hope Northern is advertising them as such.
