Question

Are these a softer rubber or more like a regular tire?

I've seen some solid tires that were a softer material so they would tear and fall apart easily. These require no air what so ever? We carry a hefty workload on our hand trucks so I want to be sure these will work for us. Thank you.

These tires are made from a somewhat pliable material. It is harder to the touch that a regular pneumatic tire, but does have some give to it. The tire is solid and requires no air to be added. The weight capacity is 250lbs per tire. They are more durable and have less rolling resistance under load than a standard pneumatic tire. If all you have used in the past is a pneumatic (air filled) tire, I think that you will be really impressed with the performance of these flat-free tires.

There is no Schrader valve on the wheel so you can't add air. I have only had one failure with these tires when someone borrowed our hand truck to move an old engine block which weighed more than the 250 lb rating of the tires. Still, I think the tire would have held up had they not allowed part of the engine to rub against the tread while they dragged it across a field. The tread was scraped off the tire and the foam filler was exposed. The other tire on that hand truck did not show any damage even though it was overloaded.

This flat-free hand truck tire is initially installed on its rim with a commercial press. In the rare instance where the flat-free tire comes off the rim, Marathon(the manufacturer) will send a replacement(tire and rim) if it's within the warranty period.

This flat free tire would work on a wheelbarrow if the specifications were the same. The dimensions and the bore size would have to match. Also the weight capacity would have to be considered.

Most wheelbarrow tires are narrow (and usually taller). If this wheel fits the axle size and the yolk that attaches the tire to the wheelbarrow will allow it to fit, then this tire certainly has the strength to do the job.
But I would check and double check the size requirements of your specific wheelbarrow.
Marathon makes other sizes in this no-flat line. Don't give up your search!
