answer 2
Yes, it will fit. I mounted it on a tube frame gate that was 2" diameter tube(= 6" circumference ). I had to use shims to get it to tighten on the gate properly but it worked fine.

It can compensate for 3 inches of travel. The spring fully extended is 5 1/4" and compressed is 2 1/4".

I would say at least 2 - 3 inches by my eye. The spring is pretty darn stiff, so it would take several hundred pounds of force to compress it fully. But if compressed fully, I would say 2 - 3 inches.

As long as gate is 8" above ground it will work. Otherwise wheel will not turn without being packed out 4" from gate. Uncompressed height of wheel frame is 19".

Question

HOW LOW WILL THE WHEEL GO BELOW THE GATE

I WANT TO PUT THE WHEEL ON THE END OF A 14 FT TUBE GATE- THE 8 IN DIA WHEEL I HAVE NOW HITS THE GROUND WHEN THE GATE IS CLOSED, BUT BECAUSE THE GROUND ISN'T LEVEL, IS ABOUT A FOOT OFF THE GROUND WHEN THE GATE IS OPEN (THE GATE OPENS 180 DEGREES- SO THE WHEEL IS OFF THE GROUND FOR MOST OF THE ARC). THE 8 IN WHEEL I HAVE NOW ATTACHES TO THE GATE'S BOTTOM BAR. THANKS

The Gate Wheel with Suspension only has a maximum travel of 3 inches. As to how low below the gate it would sit is determined by where the gate wheel itself is mounted on the gate.

Question

what are the dimensions of the support brace that mounts to the gate and the mounting hole measurements where the u-bolts go through the brace.

I want to mount the gate wheel at the end but on the inside of a 12 ft. flat angle iron security gate to eliminate sag and allow the gate to open and close smoothly.
