The screws are all Phillips.

In the kit I received all were Phillips. The SAE bolt and nut portion of the set though had combination heads so one could use either a Phillips or straight blade screw driver. Like most folks I prefer the Phillips drive, but sometimes one is just not around! Use what you have and get the job done and if a straight blade is all you have, then get it done with that if you have the fasteners for it. The combination heads allow for just that and I feel it is a great idea as it provides for some flexibility. I don't know how uniform the kits are, check yours out when you get it, you may find something different. More than likely you will find Phillips drive heads.
