You can build the workbench to suit your need. if 2 shelves is all you need it would be fine.
You would run cross braces under the shelving to sturdy the shelves.

I didn't use the middle shelf and I made mine a full 4' X 8' and it is very sturdy. I used 3/4" plywood for both top and bottom shelves.

You do not need to add the center shelf, however it does contribute to the strength of the finished product. If I were going to assemble it without the center shelf, I would at least install the framing for said shelf, it will make your bench sturdier. Also, you can frame up three sides (left, right, and rear), and leave the front open, up to the individual, depends on what you will be using it for.

It is not necessary to use the middle shelf. There is a part in the instruction showing how put together with out the middle shelf and still have support.

answer 6
I made mine with just top and bottom shelf, as adding the middle one cuts down on storage space height. Nice and strong + lighter. I used perpendicular support bracing under each shelf every 24" instead of there diagonal one in the instructions.

answer 7
No. I built my workbench 2'X8' with 3/4" builder grade plywood for the top and bottom shelf. I wanted the room on the bottom shelf to store larger items like my pancake compressor etc that would have made the second shelf in the way, so I left it out. It made no difference, this bench is so sturdy I can build a tank on it without it sagging. I will say, my bench is narrow and long so I cannot attest to the need for the second shelf if the bench is built different, but with the cross braces in I would still build it without the second shelf.

This Blitz work bench kit does not include any lumber, you can design the work bench to have cross braces on all three shelves, with the lumber you purchase from a lumber yard.

No, there are no additional cross braces for the lower shelves. I cannot see why these would be necessary unless the bench was very deep, or you had very very heavy materials on the shelves.

The recommendation is on the top shelf. I did not bother as the plywood I used was strong enough and I have not seen any weekness in the bench without it.

Yes. The bench can be built with horizontal brace under each shelf. I built mine 2' X 8' with 3/4" contractor grade plywood for the top and bottom shelf, no middle shelf, and did not use a horizontal brace under either shelf. The bench is so sturdy I can build a tank on it.

The horizontal piece sits on a ledge on each corner of the leg kit. then the horizontal is screwed to the top and the top is screwed to the 2x4 railing to make it sturdy.

answer 5
Yes there are shelf brackets in corners to rest the diagonal support for all three shelves. However diagonal bracing is not my choice. I used perpendicular bracing every two feet instead. Just seems a sturdier way to frame.

leg design has built in ledges for the shelfs to nest in. The top lip is 31 inches from the base of the leg. Add the 2x4 top layer and the top shelf rests on 34.5 inches from ground. You can vary the height of the workbench surface if inclined .So ADD .50 inch plywood an at 35 inches etc

Anything is possible, but casters on these legs would not be adviseable. They have a triangular foot that meets the floor, but I believe casters would fold under to the inside.

You can, and I was thinking of doing so, but instead I move mine with a hand cart. Even though you can lock casters they never stay as stable as without.

The workbench kit has brackets already positioned on the leg supports and the bottom shelf is about 3 1/2 inches tall. The manufacture recommends that you place your shelfing in the positioned brackets.

answer 2
Yes, I assembled mine with only the bottom shelf which is approximately 6" from the floor. The middle shelf doesn't mount with as many factory drilled holes through the legs so stability may be an issue.
