The 12 Volt, 16 Amp BatteryMINDer SCC-180 actively monitors your batterys voltage and temperature any time the sun is up. The internal program adjusts its output several times a second based on these readings to quickly and correctly charge your battery. When used as a maintainer, the BatteryMINDer is guaranteed to maximize your batterys life and storage capacity. The temperature compensated long-term float (maintenance) stage can add years of service. Patented high-frequency pulse desulfation is designed to reverse and eliminate battery sulfation, the #1 cause of early battery failure. Works with: All sizes, types and brands of 12V lead-acid batteries (Including but not limited to: flooded (filler cap / maintenance-free / VRLA / SLA), gel, AGM (Optima / Odyssey / etc.), starter, deep cycle and hybrid). Highest rated solar panel for use with this?

What is the highest rated solar panel that can be used with this charger-controller? I have an 18 Watt and a 30 Watt panel and I wanted to know if I could use either of them with this controller?

The Battery Minder 12 volt Solar Charger Controller can handle up to 180 watts. You may use as many panels as you want, as long as it does not exceed the 180 watts.

Number of batteries

The spec says it will handle up to 25 batteries. I have sixteen sealed lead-acid 20Ah batteries connected in parallel. I can hook BatteryMINDer into the last battery in line and it will charge all of them?

You would be able to hook up the solar charger to the last battery in line and it would charge all 16 of your batteries.

To correctly charge a gel cell, for example, different Voltage settings than flooded or AGM are required. Can the user select the battery type?

There is no way of selecting the type battery that you are charging on this Battery Minder. It will charge all batteries at the flooded rate. Other type batteries could take a little longer to charge.
