Ornamental grasses are better mulched with a lawn mower. It is not recommended to run Pampas Grass through this shredder.

This will come out of a 1.5 inch hole. It does not specify how finely this will be chipped it would depend on the wood. The hole is about the size of a 50 cent piece.

answer 2
The shredder part actually makes too small of pieces to use for mulch unless you blend it with wood chips from the chipper. If you want to use the shredded output for compost that should do you well.

Id have to take a picture, but Id say its nice for plant beds. Its not super fine, but not chunky at all. Its very consistent with anything you throw in it. Of course smaller material, you may have finer mulch

I borrowed this from my neighbor. The leaves were more finely shredded than the branches that we fed through it, but all of the mulch went around the front of our house, about a 5x30 foot area, and it looks absolutely spectacular now!

Because I had three trees cut down (but left on my property for firewood), most of my mulch was branches with leaves on them. My neighbor told me that he will use his tiller to mix some of his mulch in the garden, but I think that his is composed of mostly leaves.

I really like this machine.

This Powerhorse Chipper/Shredder is not recommended for this application. If used for shredding moldy hay it would void manufacture warranty.

No way! All material must exit via an approx. 3/4 inch screen which hay will clog. Shredder throat will jamb too.

Knives seem to be good quality steel. They are just a simple bar with 2 mounting holes and a beveled knife edge. They must be kept very sharp but I have found a quick, touch up is all they need. I have no complaints about the knives- they will last a long time.

Wood is wood. It handles dry wood better than wet in my experience. The pine should go through with ease. The oak you may need to feed in slower to prevent it from bogging down.
