Flux core wire will go bad after it rusts so it is not reccommended to purchase more wire than you need for a project.

I'd say years. I still have some older flux core wire (I stocked up a few years back) that I just swapped a spool out for and it seems to work just fine.

It depends on the variables in which the item is stored. I never stored wire past a few years, but I believe one could store this wire for several years under the right conditions, e.g., temperature.
