The Northern Industrial Plasma Cutter is a lightweight unit that features powerful inverter technology for smooth cutting. Handles almost any project you can throw at it, from mild steel to copper, brass, stainless and aluminum up to 3/8in. Cuts faster and more precise with a thinner kerf and less slag than cutting with oxy fuel. A smaller heat-affected zone also causes less warping. No gas pressure settings, flame tuning, metal preheating, or gas cylinders or refills to worry about, ever. What is the maximum severence for this plasma cutter.

other 40 amp plasma cutters say they will cut up to 1/2 inch and severance of 5/8. what is this machines capacity. What is the different types of inverters for plasma cutters or difference of them.

This plasma cutter will cut 10" per minute with a maximum cut of 3.8". There is no severence for the unit. It has a built in IGBT inverter built in.

An extension cord could be used but you need to make sure the cord is for 230 volt and can handle 40 amps the entire length of the cord. You would need to consult an electrician for the length recommendation.

There is a 50 amp plug on this cable. Plug this into a 230V, 50amp circuit breaker power supply. This would mean that the minimum wattage generator needed to operate this unit would be 12,000 continuous watts generator.

This welder is equipped with safety features that will prohibit damage if trigger is pulled with low or no air, and unit will fire but would not cut if ground was not connected.
