While there is no filter, a filter box/return is available from US Stoves, and it is almost mandatory. The product number is UFB908. I have read a few reviews where people complained about burning up the blower fans. They said that they were covered by warranty, which unless they purchased an extended warranty would have failed inside one year. When I received my stove, there was a tag attached to the door that stated the importance of a return/filter. In addition, there is a section in the manual that states the need for a return/filter system. One, it provides cool air to keep the windings in the motors from burning up; secondly, it helps to circulate the air in the house to increase efficiency. Finally, make sure that your return provides a minimum of 320 square inches (16" x 20") for proper air flow. Hope this helps!! Great stove.

The US Stove Wood/Coal Furnace comes standard with a draft kit with thermostat that is designed to turn the draft fan off at 200 degrees. If you already have the unit and believe it is not operating properly I would refer you US Stove for technical troubleshooting.

The draft induction kit helps the wood or coal to burn more efficiently and is also much more cost effective since the unit uses fresh air to move the hot air which rises. Without a draft kit the fan would continue running.

The furnace does included a manual shaker, however, there are not ratings on how often you need to shake the coals. This is best figured out by experience.
