This is designed for a ceiling height of less than 20 feet. The area that each light will light depends on the height that the light is installed, but the average size is approximately a 10 x 10 foot area.

The 70 watt fluorescent bulb is equivalent to a 300 watt incandescent bulb. The color temperature is 6500K (bluish-white) like the headlights of many high-end luxury cars.

There is not an on/off switch on the light itself. It would have to be plugged into a controlled outlet. It does come with a 6' cord with plug.

The manufacturer(Designers Edge) lists an ideal temperature range of 77-95 degrees Fahrenheit. It will function at colder temperatures, but performance may begin to suffer. Testing showed the light did function all the way down to minus 15 degrees Fahrenheit.
