Questions & Answers for "FREE SHIPPING - Ingersoll Rand Electric Portable Air Compressor - 2 HP, 115 Volt, 30-Gallon, Model# SS3F2GM"

Question

Initial Start Up

Is just allowing this unit to run until auto shut off when the tank fills sufficient for the initial start up / break in procedure?
There does not appear to be a service valve on this model that would allow the unit to run without building pressure - as per E-R instructions for a SS3 style compressor, it is supposed to be run for 30 minutes with the service valve open and not allowing the tank to pressurize.

Start up procedure for the Ingersoll Rand Electric Portable Air Compressor is as follows:
Set pressure switch lever to off, close regulator by pulling the adjustable dial out and turning it fuller CCW, push the dial in when knob will no longer turn, attach the hose and accessory, then move the pressure switch lever to On/Auto. The unit will then start. Allow the tank pressure to build. The motor will stop when tank pressure reaches cut-out pressure, adjust the regulator to desired secondary pressure by pulling the adjustable dial out and turning CW to increase the pressure or CCW to decrease pressure. Then Push the dial in when the desired pressure is reached.

Also be sure to check and add lubricant if needed to compressor pump before starting.

Question

What's the max line PSI and cut in pressure?

I have the need to have 120PSI on the line to inflate tubular road bike tires and want to know the max line pressure along with the cut in pressure. Also, if the cut in pressure is below 120PSI is there a way to initiate the compressor cycle?

Staff Answer
This air compressor will provide up to 135 PSI on demand providing the air tank is filled. The pump is continuous duty though at some point during continuous use, the pressure out-put could drop until the air tank is filled again.

The cut in pressure is 90-95 PSI. There is not a way to initiate the compressor cycle on this single stage compressor. You would need to go to a 2 stage compressor that would have a cut in of 140-175 PSI, if you need the higher cut in pressure.

This Ingersoll Rand portable air compressor can be plugged into a generator. You will need to select a generator capable of producing running watts of 1,725 with surge watts of at least 12,075. Check out my product recommendations below.

I don't know about watts but it requires a 20 amp circuit. My electrician recommended going with 25 amp breaker and 12 gauge wires.

The Ingersoll Rand Portable Air Compressor will be delivered assembled. Only the tire and wheel assemblies will need to be installed. Before operation, oil will need to be added to the unit. This is all that is required before start up.

You'll need the Ingersall-Rand startup SS3 kit, that contains the synthetic oil required. The compressor is shipped without oil. Otherwise, just fit up the handle and rubber bumpers on the bottom, you're ready to go.
