That's all we use ours for; driving 1" diameter, flat top steel spikes into the ground. Each spike is approximately 4 feet long, and we drive about three feet into the ground. We just leave the steel bits out of the breaker and slip it directly over the stakes; it drives them right in. Works like a champ.

Maximum capacity is about 1 inch in diameter. Occasional, a stake head will mushroom a bit and we'll have to grind it back down to get it to fit in the breaker.

The Makita 11 lb. Demolition Hammer (HM0810B); Accepts 3/4" Hex - 21/32" Round Shank Bits and can be used to drive spikes. We recommend the Makita Ground Rod/Spike Driver (751109-A ) for this tool.
