This pressure washer cannot be used with a gravity fed tank. The water supply to the the pressure washer must be steady and flowing at a rate 20% over the rated flow of your pump; this equates to 3 GPM. An insufficient water supply will damage your pressure washer pump.

You would adjust the pressure by using larger nozzles than come with the unit. This one comes with 3.0 orifice nozzles. You could purchase 3.5 orifice nozzles to lower the pressure.

Question

Does the pump have a pressure relief valve to avoid pump damage?

You have to keep spraying water while the pump is pressurized to avoid damage to the pump. Most cheap pumps do not have this valve. Consequently, after a few uses, the pressure is drastically reduced.

This cold water pressure washer includes a thermal protector relief valve which keeps the pump from overheating when the trigger on the gun is not pressed. The thermal protector will protect the pump for a short amount of time(30 seconds or less). If you won't be pressure washing for longer than that amount of time, it's necessary to shut off the pressure washer/engine.
