Questions & Answers for "NorthStar Pressure Washer Heater/Steamer Add-on Unit - 4000 PSI, 4 GPM, 120 Volt"

Question

Is there any way Possible to convert this heater to 12V.

would be so much nicer to run this off a deep cycle battery rather than mess with inverters. (Inverters are very very temperamental when exposed to any kind of moisture)

This pressure washer heater/steamer add-on unit cannot be converted to 12 volt. Northern Tool cannot advise on modifying this heater/steamer as modifications will void the warranty.

To operate, this unit will need both diesel and 120 volt power. The burner is fired by diesel and requires the electricity for the ignition. Although the outlet that is required should have a 15 amp breaker the actual draw will be lower.

The temperature at the wand will vary depending on a number of variables including hose length and ambient air temperature. The shorter the hose length and the higher the air temperature the less thermal loss there will be between the unit and the wand.

Depends on the length of pressure hose, and the outside temp. With 50' of hose and snow on the ground, I lose about 5 degrees.

Question

Can this be used on Northstar cold water machines

I have seen where the expert has said that only cold water can be used on the cold water machines as they are specified at 140 degree in and out. Yet in this forum the expert says that they can be used. I want to have a cold water washer and the add on hot unit. So what cold water washer and pump will take the hot water produced by this unit?

This NorthStar Pressure Washer Heater/Steamer add-on unit will connect to your pressure washer after water is already passed through the pump. This can be used with any pressure washer that is 2-4 GPM, and max PSI of 4000.

This unit is made for outdoor use only. Indoor use could result in exposure to hazardous fumes and a possible fire hazard. At this time we do not offer or condone any exhaust system that could be attached to this unit.

The add-on unit can be left connected to the pressure washer for cold water use. The switch on the add-on unit would be shut off for this. The chemicals will still be dispensed as they are routed on the out put side of the unit.

This NorthStar Pressure Washer Heater/Steamer Add-on Unit will work great on on grease. You can use your existing nozzle(s). Or a great addition is Quick connect nozzles that allows you to choose the right nozzle for the right job. Quick connect nozzles do require quick connect couplers.

This heater/steamer add-on unit weighs 286 lbs. empty and 334 lbs. fueled. Northern tool recommends more than one person transport this unit up or down a ramp. A winch is not recommended as the heater/steamer only rests on its wheels when the unit is tipped forward by lifting the handles. Since the unit doesn't rest flush on four wheels when stationary, a winch isn't an applicable way to move it.

It isn't heavy just bulky. I find that two people are neede to lift it. I use a ramp and easily roll it into my truck.

No, you simply lower the hose to the ground and all of the water drains from the heater coil. I have never had the coil freeze up.
