This NorthStar pressure washer will require a pump that delivers approximately 4 gallons per minute from an auxiliary water source to prevent damage to the pump. If the tank is above the pressure washer and can provide proper volume, you can gravity feed the unit. If not, you may need a water pump in between to ensure consistent pressure.

With a downstream injector chemicals enter after the pump and with an upstream injector chemicals enter before the pump. Basically, downstream is at low pressure and upstream is at high pressure. The main disadvantage of an upstream injector is that the chemicals go through the pump, which will prematurely damage the pump and void the warranty.

Question

Soap On High Pressure & AMP Draw

Hi - The last reviewer stated that the unit, "....does not put soap under high pressure..." What does he mean? I want to be sure that I can add soap to my water while steam cleaning. Also, this calls for a 30AMP receptacle. What does the unit actually draw? Thank you.

The chemical/soap injector siphons water and will only work at low pressure. The pump is not designed to handle chemicals, so soap cannot be run through it and pressurized. We do sell a soap shooter(see link below) but it will only work with water up to 195 degrees F. While it is recommended that this unit be connected to a dedicated 30 amp breaker, the average draw is approximately 16 amps @ 230 volts.

For additional hose, you can purchase the same hose that comes with the unit, in 50 or 100 foot additional lengths. See links below. When extending the hose, you will have no noticeable performance loss up to about 100 feet, and can lose up to 7 PSI per foot after that. Although it can be extended 300 feet, you would see a noticeable performance drop.

This NorthStar Electric pressure washer contains an electric motor that runs constantly. The pressure washer comes with a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) built into the plug of the power supply cord. This pressure washer is designed for a pressurized water source such as a city water faucet. Connecting to a water storage tank is not recommended and will void the warranty.
