This drill press is rated at 3.8 amps. Please follow the below steps to change the speed:

1. Unplug the drill press power cord from the wall receptacle.
2. Raise the hinged top cover by lifting on the knob.
3. With your fingers, loosen the locking wing bolt by turning it counterclockwise two or three complete turns.
4. Move the motor to bring the motor pulley closer to the spindle.
5. Look at the RPM chart to see which pulleys will produce a speed close to the recommended RPM. The second column shows that the spindle speed will be 2,300 RPM if the belt is placed on the second set of pulleys from the top.
6. Move the belt to the correct set of pulleys. Do this by rotating the pulleys with your hands as you pull up or down on the belt. Important: Start by moving the belt from a larger pulley to a smaller pulley. Caution - Pay attention to where you put your fingers to avoid getting them pinched between the belt and a pulley.
7. Move the belt to the correct position on both pulleys.
8. Move the motor back to tighten the belt
9. Tighten the belt tension lock and then close the cover.
10. Plug the drill press power cord into the wall receptacle.

This drill press has a 2-1/3" stroke. The longest drill bit that can be used is 7" so depending on the distance the table is from the bit, you may be able to drill holes deeper than 2-1/3" after adjusting the table height. The depth scale/gauge and lock is assembled the way it's intended to be used.

The T-slots in the base of the drill press can be used with t-bolts, or any bolt whose head could fit through the slot, to hold a vise or fixture to it. Northern Tool does sell a variety of clamps, listed under the hand tools category on our web site, and other bits listed under the woodworking category.

The Northern Industrial Bench Drill Press with Laser has a swing of 10". The swing is the distance from the vertical column to the center of the spindle x 2. This would be able to center drill a 10" maximum plate. We do not currently sell a bench drill press with a 15" swing. You can find all our store locations by clicking on the "Store Locator" link on the top right of our web page.
