answer 1
With the bolt hole positions and the clamping method, I am pretty sure you could mount it to a smaller tongue like that. If you are handy, this is very versatile and should be easy to work something out with. The only downside to the higher weight capacity is a mildly heavier jack. I would easily go with this as it is not going to be a big issue and for me, in this situation, more IS better. The wheel is hard zytel type plastic, and may sink in the grass under heavy weight. It is possible that you could fit a pneumatic tire in the wheel space. That would be ideal for grass. I wish I could measure it for you, but isn't available now. The wheel itself is about 2" wide, but the whole space is probably ~3" total width between the metal, and I am not sure of the height. Hope this helps

answer 2
Yes, this jack will work on a tongue that is 2x3 inch. The differences between this jack and the 750 lb model are: The weight that they are capable of holding, the length of travel and the overall extended and collapsed length of the jack. The capacity of the jack that you need will be determined by the tongue weight and not the overall weight of the trailer. If you are moving this trailer on grass I would consider going to a dual wheel jack as the single wheel models can dig into the sod when you move them.

answer 3
I have mounted it on a 2"x3" trailer tongue (a 2000# 4x6 pivot trailer from Northern Tools). The wheel on this unit may be larger than the lighter weight item and would therefore be more suited for use on turf terrain.
