This Warn winch comes with 12 gauge wire originally. To safely extend this out to 25 feet, you will need to use 6 gauge wire.

I looked around for a cheap set of jumper cables, if you are using 1700# winch you can get by with #6 wire size, but I would go larger if possible to reduce the line loss (Amps). Just cut of the clamps and solder on the ends. You can buy quick disconnects at Northern or other places on the net.

Question

Can I use this winch to replace the junk actuator that came with my 54" Warn ATV snow blade ?

The gear stripped out on the actuator and is not available as a replacement part. I realize that I will have to make a custom mounting bracket on either the blade or ATV. Is the cable powered in and out or will it free wheel going out? Also will the line speed be comparable to the original actuator? Thanks, Gary

The WARN 1700 does feature power in and power out as well as a free spool option. The line speed ranges from 7.6 fpm at no load to 4.0fpm at full load. With the correct custom mounting this should work fine in place of your actuator.
