Question

I need information on the piston of this press.

We need to add a tip to this press and I need to know the size of the piston and if I can thread on platens or attachments or different heads for my applications.If possible I could use a PDF of the instructions that may have a schematics of this devise.

We do not have a schematic of the unit.

End of the piston is 1 1/8" in diameter and isn't threaded, but you could
probably use slip on attachments.

The piston O.D. is 1.648" (41.86mm). The short attached "press-plug" at the end of the cylinder shaft is 2.1" O.D. and is attached with a "C" ring to the cylinder shaft (no threads). You would have to remove the "C" ring and adapt your attachments in the same way.

The gauge on the unit has two scales: Metric Tons (inside scale) and US tons (outside scale). Each increment marking is 500 psig. Since it is mounted on the top of the piston cylinder, it does not read the actual true psi that is applied to the work piece; that has to be calculated. The gauge only reads the oil pressure applied to the cylinder. Conversion to psi can be done if you know the O.D. size of the internal cylinder piston (1.648") and divide the the difference of the cylinder size to 1 inch (.648). For example if you are reading 2000 psig (1 US ton) on the cylinder gauge, the actual pressure on the pressed object is 2000 divided by .648 or 3,086 psi. An easier way is to place a conversion pad with gauge between the work piece and the cylinder piston. The conversion gauge pad will then give you a direct reading in PSI.
