The jack will operate horizontally, however, you may experience some leaking of hydraulic oil from the seals.

Highly not recommended. The seals and fittings are meant for it to be used vertically. Trying to use it horizontally puts uneven pressure on the seals and may cause it to fail. This is true for /any/ bottle jack unless specified otherwise. A horizontal problem is usually best remedied with a chain and come-along or a pry bar.

Does this jack lose pressure under load?

I want to replace the jack in my shop press, as it does not hold load over-nite. Will this jack hold pressure overnight?

The manufacture does not recommend extended lift time for this item without the aid of a jack stand such as the link added below.

None of mine have ever bled down as long as the bleed screw is closed tightly.
