NO - most bottle jacks will not work horizontally. Would suggest a good hydraulic ram kit for this application.

Question

How do you lower the jack after using air to raise it?

Is the process to lower the jack the same whether you use air or hydraulics to raise it? What happens if you lose air pressure? Also, how do you modulate the lifting when using air to raise it?

Staff Answer
This bottle jack whether raised by hydraulics or air is lowered in the same manner. To lower the jack, you'll turn the valve located in the middle towards the bottom two rotations. This valve is closed when raising the jack so if you lose air pressure the jack won't drop unless you open that valve. When using air to raise the jack, you simply release the trigger on your air gun/hose and the jack will stop rising.
